Female sleepy orange female laid this egg on desert senna (Senna covesii) growing in Pantano Wash; in Tucson proper on 15 Sep 2010. It is not too difficult to find sleepy orange eggs and caterpillars in the late summer and fall.

Sleepy Orange First Instar Larva
Larva feeding on desert senna. Either feeding larvae on cuttings or potted plant works great for this butterfly. Try to provide it with new growth.
