Eggs of the colorado hairstreak overwinter.  If you find eggs during the winter months, it's important to keep eggs exposed to cold overwintering conditions until you can obtain fresh growth of scrub oak (Quercus gambelii) or other suitable lab oak to feed the hatchling first instar caterpillar.
